Hi Stewart

Roney Research

Thank you for providing further information regarding Peter Roney Snr and Jnr and for indicating agreement to our 8 hour proposal. The objectives are outline below and are designed to help you with your main queries and provide further details about both men. Some of the additional research should also help to answer questions found in your main objectives.

Objectives and Additional Research

  1. Search for a proven link between Peter Roney Jnr who lived in Hull, purportedly born in the late 1820s, and Peter Roney Snr who lived in Ulverstone and was purportedly born around 1797.
  2. Research possible origins in Ireland (including likely mother of Peter Jnr) and prepare research for next generation if possible.
  3. Provide advice on how to take back further and/or confirm line.
  4. Provide genealogical background information on the number of Peter Roneys in England and Ireland at relevant times.
  5. Provide chronology of both Peters and provide an estimate (with evidence where it can be obtained) on how, why and when they left Ireland for England.
  6. Provide biographies of both Peters and examine other candidates for the two men. Check apparent inconsistencies in the occupations, identities and locations of each Peter.
  7. Provide opinion with confirmation or rejection of the name “Patrick Peter Roney” assigned to Peter Snr on his wife’s death certificate.
  8. Include information regarding the accuracy and availability of 19th century Irish genealogical records.
  9. Show that Peter Jnr was not only alive in 1857 but after the 1861 census and possibly much later.
  10. Search for death of Peter Jnr and provide possible indexes for locating his record plus other guidance if not found.
  11. Attempt to answer which Peter, if either, was charged with desertion in 1859? Can we link the north west of England to this person?
  12. Outline offences and situations for Peter Roneys in the right location and try to assign them to either one based on other sources. This not only helps to provide a fuller picture of each person but to track their progress throughout key locations. Check other significant situations further afield.
  13. Why was Peter Sr absent from his wife Henrietta's side in the 1861 census?
  14. Both Peters were often in trouble but did either Peter save a life? Date of this helps our research.
  15. Provide other hypotheses or conclusions as they emerge in the research process which, due to its very nature, cannot be guaranteed, noting that additional research could change or enhance current knowledge of the Roneys.
  16. Provide digital report by email.

I hope this is acceptable. If so, please accept the quote by clicking once on the green button at the top of the quotation. It will take a few seconds to register and then an invoice will be forwarded to you from which you can make payment by clicking on the green Pay by Paypal button. I look forward to researching this fascinating case and reporting back.

Best wishes, Amy
