Welcome to the Atlantic Mission: unique records to discover your 17th century British roots: a splendidly detailed database overflowing with intricate information, transcribed by people on both sides of the Atlantic.
Easy subscriptions are available from only £19. Please donate what you can so that we can add to these genealogical treasures and tell everyone about them.
It is very expensive to create and develop this site and to host all the information. It is also costly to get transcribers who are prepared to work to the amount of detail we require so that you can discover more about your ancestors.
This database was created during the Pandemic when time was made available to do those things we intend to do but can never find the time.
Historians, researchers and genealogists of all levels of expertise. It can be used by Americans seeking their British ancestors but also by British descendants of those who stayed.
Many remained in Britain and these new records can tell you more about your ancestors and extended families. Occasionally, individuals or whole families can disappear from parish records and these resources may explain why.
Choose your priority from three main collections: Britain (residence, identity, activities); Atlantic (migration, servitude and transportation), America (land grants, residence and ownership). Combine each collection to follow the progress of key individual from Britain to America through time.
Use the advanced search tool to locate different record types, categories and people.
There are excellent family history research providers like Ancestry and Findmypast but have so many records that the right ones are often buried deep beneath billions of online records which are difficult even for the seasoned genealogist to navigate. The Atlantic Mission adds to these excellent services.
Stories of Rebels, Rogues and Romantics, the pioneers who helped to build America, are funnelled into digital formats to show their passage from Britain over the Atlantic. These are not just the well-known Pioneers who helped to build America but also servants, slaves, mariners and neighbours, et al, like these:-
